'burgh-lock

I should have made it an early morning. I definately should have known that snow in the forecast would inevitably lead to a gridlocked parkway and impassable side streets. Now, it's always nice to have 4-wheel drive in this kind of snow...the roads have packed snow, not ice - so i can just cruuuiiiise. BUT, what doesn't help is the people that aren't aware that the roads really aren't all that bad, and thus drive like imbeciles. So i'm home. I took one look at the parkway east (jammed from the Squirrel Hill tunnels to the Turnpike), and one look at Penn Ave (backed up all the way to Greensburg Pike) - and turned around to arrive back at my domacile. 2 hours or more in a car to get to my office just wasn't looking to be a good idea. Add to that the several too-fast-driving cars that were sliding up the hill a little too close to me, and it seemed all too clear that i was meant to be in my house today.
So, I'm working at home. Working at home is nice. No desk clutter, no phone calls, no door knocks. I don't have access to the UPMC PET network from home, so i can only work on already created data sets, and edit papers. This is nice. This means I'll make it all the way through the papers i need to edit, plus i can catch up on some recent articles i printed this week. weeeeeeeee! PLUS, i can brew as many pots of coffee as i wish. I guess 'burgh-lock isn't so terrible when you're not stuck in the middle of it. My first adult snow day!!!!!

i'm half tempted to forget the whole work thing and head to 7 Springs, but the prospect of doing work uninterrupted at home and getting paid for it is just too nice. Plus, it's supposed to snow saturday and sunday...2 full days of real snow on the slopes. I can't wait.
