just one calorie, not caffeinated enough

So i'm surfing the non-caffeinated wave. I'm surviving solely on sleep, strategically placed caloric intake, and my exhuberant personality (HA!). It's quite the experiment. I'm learning to appreciate the merits of decaf tea and hot chocolate. I can't bring myself to drink decaf coffee. It makes me feel like a heroin addict trying to kick the habit with methadone...like I HAVE to have it or I'll twitch and scream and work myself into a junkie's frenzy. Granted, I love the taste and smell of coffee sans caffeine...but before I hop on the decaf train I figured I'd give coffee-less-ness a go. Again, it's quite the experiment.

In other news tidbits:

Jan. 7, 2006 - William "Doc" Mctaggart died. DOC! The most rediculous yet intelligent english professor I'd ever spent time with in a Westminster College classroom. Goofy, off-the-wall, unique, side-splitting, intelligent, insightful, somber...these words all mashed together almost come close to capturing a small part of DOC. He was a campus legend.

Bound Words: I've finished 2 books since Christmas (I got about 8 new ones). Stiff, and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. STIFF was good (the life and times of cadavers in research), but so many people lauded it as being masterful...that I found it just okay. I think it's mainly because I'm a biologist. I like to study life. I like mystery and discovering systems and reading about the human brain. Reading about cadavers was just okay. She made some funny comments, but I didn't find them overly clever. Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister was totally worth it. I read it in about 2 days. It's light-hearted and sparks memories of reading/watching Cinderalla as a child. I love adult fairy tales. They're easy, and fanciful, and give a bit of realism to their childhood counterparts. It's comforting to have a glimpse into well-known characters.
