good stuff

So I'm reading all manner of mother blogs (did I mention I'M HAVING A BABY). Maybe I didn't. Welp, I am. It's surreal and fantastic and makes me warm and fuzzy inside. So, this morning I was reading a blog entitled "four sweetpeas". It's written by a mother with 2 children in Sacramento, California. Her and her family live in this beautiful place. Everytime I see families in places that are sunnny, mountainous, or on the ocean, I sigh and think "oooh, I'd like to raise a family there!!" But you know what I realized today? I was oooh-ing and ahhh-ing at this blog, but the parts that made me ooh the most were the cute anecdotes about grandma coming over to play with the kids, and the family Easter gathering, and even simple things like the new flowers blooming, and the new dress she made in sewing class (I'm guessing she's a stay at home mom). I'd love to live on the west coast, but it just doesn't seem to compare with what I'd get living in Pittsburgh. People trump atmosphere. Ah, it's nice to realize that :o) (though I still wouldn't mind about a 2 year sabbatical out there...maybe a post-doc position....pending of course that I actually get the "doc" part completed ;o)
